Our Forest School programme at Happy Feet Nursery offers children the chance to explore, discover and learn in nature, helping them build confidence, independence and a lifelong love for the outdoors.
At Happy Feet Nursery, our Forest School programme offers a unique opportunity for children in our Pre-School Room (ages 3–5) to connect with nature and develop lifelong skills through outdoor exploration.
Forest School is a child-centred, inspirational approach that promotes holistic growth through regular sessions in a natural woodland setting. It encourages children to become resilient, independent, confident and creative learners — all while enjoying the freedom to explore, play and discover in the great outdoors.
We visit our dedicated Forest School site at Jocks Burn, where small groups of children take part in hands-on experiences across a six-week rotation. These sessions take place in all weather (except during high winds), allowing children to experience the seasons, manage real-world risks, and grow a deep respect for the environment.
The programme is completely free of charge and open to all Pre-School children, provided parent/carer consent is given.
Forest School is more than just time outdoors — it’s about giving children the space and time to follow their curiosity, express themselves, and grow in ways that simply aren’t possible indoors.
By nurturing imagination, awareness and emotional understanding, our Forest School sessions help children form a deep connection with the natural world — and with themselves.
